They're tough and smell good at the same time.

Darn Tough Back-Road Merino Wool 1/4 Cushion Sock

Rating for this product: 5 June 15, 2008

I just finished a mountain race in these socks, up a steep grade and back down. Snow made them soggy, but while waiting at the damp, windy finish line, my feet never got cold. I wear holes in the toes of all my socks like lightning, and these are holding up great so far. I wear womens' 7 1/2 and ordered size small. They're fine, but next time I will get mediums.

So far so good!

Fox River Wick Dry Endeavor Qtr. Socks - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 June 15, 2008

These socks have held up for a month of regular wear and tear, but I haven't abused them on the trail yet. I like the midweight thickness--more substantial than a running sock, but not as bulky as other hiking socks. The toes fit nice. No blisters.
