Ultralight protection for the most extreme environments

Marmot Alpinist Tent 2-Person 4-Season

Rating for this product: 5 April 3, 2008

I love this tent. That is as light as it gets for a functional 4-season tent (read here with a vestibule and enough room to be comfortable when you have 2 people in there with 40-below sleeping bags). It takes a couple minutes to set-up (through the external clips) and the built-in vestibule is way worth it to store backpack, boots or even cook when the weather sucks out there. The tent is sturdy in the wind (I experienced 80 MPH) and fabric breathes well and I haven't had much condensation inside. It is fully waterproof and I never had to seam-seal it. I was also considering the Bibler I-tent (545 USD) or Eldorado (575 USD) but if I needed to get the vestibule (an extra 125 USD) with it The tent would take a lot longer to set-up and the weight would get higher than the Marmot Alpinist. I have used this tent on 15-day expeditions and in extreme conditions and so far so good! You can't go wrong with the Alpinist.
