Good but dries slowly
Backcountry.com Shift Softshell Jacket - Men's
June 24, 2008
It is a first for me amongst jackets so my opinion is not as validated, but I had a problem with it drying slowly after getting soaked through. Accompanied properly with a hard-shell and it would be great. The cut is very nice. All in all, I like the jacket a lot, especially considering the price.

Roomy and Easy
MSR Hubba HP Tent 1-Person 3-Season
June 24, 2008
I sought a tent that was lightweight but also one in which I could sit up straight in. I am 6'1" and can sit up straight in this tent in order to meditate. It's very light and very easy to set up and take down. I've seen no flaws so far.

Good pants
Mountain Hardwear Mesa Convertible Pant - Men's
June 24, 2008
As far as breathable convertible pants go, I can't imagine much better. The cargo pockets are roomy. I did not wear as shorts on account of bugs, but i imagine that in the desert one might be grateful for the versatility. My next pants won't be convertibles however. They are light and breathable enough as is. Good, tough material though. The belt system could also use some modification. Felt good where the pack rubbed but I needed to tie the belt in the front to keep it from loosening on me. I'm rather slim in the waist.

great for one
MSR Pocket Rocket Stove
June 24, 2008
This stove is good. I used it on the 100-mile wilderness at the northern terminus of the AT. Two could get by using it if dishes were prepared in shifts. It is easily affected by wind, but this is a solvable problem except in extreme circumstances. Boils water fast. One 8-oz canister lasts a while. I only used one for the trip. That was boiling water at least twice a day and sometimes three times for 8 days. Light, durable and compact. A good stove.
