Hestra Heli

Hestra Heli Glove

Rating for this product: 4 February 28, 2008

I returned the Hestra Heli glove without wearing it outdoors because of the fit. While the finger length (size 8) was perfect, the wrist area was too tight, even without securing the Velcro wrist strap/cinch. Using the wrist strap made it too difficult to remove the glove, which I often do. If your someone who rarely removes a glove then it might work fine for you. Also, while the wrist 'leash' is great in that it has a tight wrist-band attached to the cord, it was uncomfortable (too wide), interfering with my layering at the wrist. All of this is personal and you might find the fit fine. I suggest allowing enough time to return for a different size (I subsequently tried on a larger size in a store and it was too big in the fingers but OK at the wrist). I noticed a couple of other skiers wearing the glove and their wrist cinch was not secured, so I suspect this is common. The feel of the glove when on is excellent in its flexibility and form-fitting. I wish they had been just a little wider at the wrist-it doesn't really need the wrist cinch. The gauntlet is great and the insert covers most of it. The Black diamond 'Prodigy' or the 'OR 'Couloir' are alternatives, though the BD doesn't have a wrist strap (there are two small loops that should accommodate rigging your own).
