The North Face Redpoint Optimus Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 20, 2008

When I received the jacket in delivery, I was quite surprised by how light it was despite having read the reviews about its weight prior to purchase. For testing, I wore it over a single T-shirt on a 35F weather, and felt okay. I also wore it on a 25F day with winds at 20mph, lowering the wind chill ot 5F, with a fleece layer underneath. I did feel a tiny tiny bit of chill in the second instance. It would feel extremely warm if I wore it with a fleece layer on the first instance, and also warm if I wore it with a fleece and another decent layer on the second instance. Or I could just wear this jacket, and put another winter jacket over it to feel completely warm (as I said, this jacket is so light and small that you could really do that without feeling bulky and constrained). Bottom line, this is a good winter jacket for temp. above 27F or so, and a great midlayer for anything below (No, this jacket alone prolly won't be good for those frigid temperatures). Oh, yes, once again lastly, you can't tell from the photos how light and small this jacket is.
