Light and awesome
Mountain Hardwear Phantom Sleeping Bag: 45 Degree Down
May 19, 2008
This bag is great if you want to keep things super light and compact, but also value quality and performance. This bag is great, being that it is smaller than a Nalgene bottle and super light. I have also found that the temperature rating is slightly conservative by about 5-10 degrees. I have even slept in it when the temp dropped in the low 20's, wearing only base layers and a Mont Bell ultralight down jacket inside.

Awesome
Mountain Hardwear Canyon Pant - Men's
May 9, 2008
These pants work great for everything that I need them for. They are actually quite comfortable and freedom permitting, so they don't get in the way while moving around. I appreciate the built-in belt; minimal but helpful. It doesn't get in the way of a pack belt and things like that. These pants also have the nice feature of the bungee style drawcords at the ankles, so that you can roll uo the pant legs and keep them out of the way during rock climbing, or a river crossing. Also very breathable, and as many have said, quick drying. Awesome pants!

Awesome pack
Black Diamond Speed 40 Backpack - 2441cu in
May 7, 2008
This pack is great! I found that the pack is large enough to hold pretty much all of my gear for at least an overnight hiking trip, or maybe two if you pack very small and light. A really simple and minimal design that can be stripped even more for super-lightness. Great pockets, features and straps. Only complaint (minor) is that the hydration sleeve inside is a little tight, barely holding most of my 70oz camelbak bladder...

Answer to: "I'm right hander. Do I Buy Right or Left Zipper?"
Marmot Pinnacle Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down
April 25, 2008
I am right handed as well, but I sleep on my right side. I have learned over the years that I prefer the right-side zipper so I can open it when it's a bit too warm and not have an exposed shoulder. For me, the right-side zipper allows me to regulate my body temperature better. My wife is also a right-side sleeper, but she prefers the left-side zipper. I suppose that's the best of both worlds: Our Marmot bags zip together.
The best around
Therm-a-Rest ProLite 4 Sleeping Pad
April 18, 2008
All I can do is add to all of the glowing reviews that this pad has already recieved... The ProLite 4 is very well designed, and functions perfectly in every imaginable condition. I have used mine all year round in every condition. It is very durable, light, compact, comfortable, and warm. Inflates easily and doesn't slip around on your tent floor. A great product that has my vote!

Columbia Dub Mountain Shell - Men's
March 30, 2008
I believe you are actually looking for the Columbia Selkirk Parka. It is basically just like this shell, and has the down jacket for a liner. They sell it on the backcountry.com outlet as well.

February 18, 2008
Ok, honestly I don't know if I can say enough about how much I really enjoy this bag... First off, it is super light and compact for all of your adventures, yet keeps me perfectly warm and happy all night long! I have not yet used the bag in the spring or summer time, but I am sure that it will work great in those seasons as well! Really an amazing all around sleeping bag.
