AR = All around
SV = Severe
Across the Arc'teryx line the difference in this insignation is the weight of the face fabric. Any SV piece will use 480N, over the entire jacket. Where AR pieces will have a combination of 480N in high abration areas and 380N over the rest.
480N is highly durable.
380N saves weight.
