Super Comfortable

Exped SynMat Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 5 August 25, 2008

I'm a side sleeper and this mat is awesome. So comfortable. No aching hips and shoulders. Full night's sleep. It's also good and compact and you can fit it back into its included stuff sack without squeezing out every last molecule of air left in it. It is a little heavier than similarly compact mats like the Term-A-Rest Prolite, but it's so much more comfotable it's worth the weight to me. The pump does work. It just takes a little practice.

Very good stove.

Brunton Raptor Stove

Rating for this product: 4 August 11, 2008

I have been very happy with this stove. I've used it above 10,000 ft in breezy weather and never had any problem at all. It also works with MRS threaded canisters (though not as efficiently, but good enough in a pinch). It folds up small and nests into my GSI Soloist cook system along with an 8oz canister. However, the auto ignition did not last long. It broke after the use of one 4oz canister to be exact. Nevertheless, I still feel that it's an excellent stove and I would purchase it again and just bring along some matches, since these lighters are notoriously unreliable.

Genius!

GSI Outdoor Ultralight Soloist Cook System

Rating for this product: 5 August 11, 2008

This system is smarter than me. Reasonable sized pot is light, with a stay cool handle that is sturdy and folds up over the top to the pot. Nesting bowl has neoprene sleeve. The lid can be used as a strainer or turned up-side-down fits securely into the bowl and has sip hole. Stuff sack is water proof and can be used as a small camp sink. Little pouch houses your stove. The whole thing nests in it as well an 8oz canister, stove, and folding spork, and easily fits into my pack, no problem.

Good Value

Kelty Kelty Grand Mesa 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 4 July 16, 2008

It's a great tent. It has a tiny footprint so, fitting it into a tight flat spot is easy. It's ridiculously easy to set up. Get a compression sack for it and it shrinks down to a sleeping bag stuff sack size. My only complaint is that I use it high in the Colorado Rockies where it gets quite cold at night, and with the rainfly on, which helps keep the tent warm, my breath condenses on the inside of the tent and everything is a little wet in the morning. The one vent on the back of the tent just isn't quite enough to allow moisture to escape.

OK.

Therm-a-Rest Prolite 3 Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 3 July 4, 2008

Pros: Light weight and compact. Cons: A little cold, NOT for side sleepers. I like it, but I wake up every hour or so to achy shoulders and hips. Honestly, to me it's worth the extra weight and bulk for a better night's sleep.

Better than nothing.

Therm-a-Rest Z-Lite Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 3 July 4, 2008

Pros: light, durable. Cons: little bulk, pretty firm. Too firm for me, but at 35 bucks it's better than nothing.

Good shorts.

Oakley ARC Compass Board Short - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 June 30, 2008

I bought a size 8 and it fit perfectly on the first try. Flattering, dry really fast, comfy. The only thing is the white gets and looks dirty really quickly.

A true all mountain ski.

K2 T Nine Tough Luv Alpine Ski w/ Marker M1 11 TC Binding - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 24, 2008

Agile and fun in the powder and even though they're geared towards the soft snow, I am perfectly happy cruising groomers on them as well. They're fast, and nimble, but still very stable when skied correctly. Gotta stay forward and assertive though. They'll chatter wicked (or get stuck in the crud) if you back off and don't drive through the turns. They don't require uber-aggression, but I can't say I'd recommend them to a recreational skier. More for the skier who's out regularly and doesn't want to sink a boatload into two separate pairs of skis.

Really good carver.

K2 T Nine Burnin Luv Alpine Ski w/ Marker M1 11 TC Bindings - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 January 24, 2008

Easy and fun, but can handle a faster more aggressive skier as well. Very stable and carves really well, even through crud. Not great in powder (to be expected with a 68mm waist).

Not really thrilled.

K2 T Nine Lotta Luv Alpine Ski w/ Marker M1 11 TC Binding - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 January 24, 2008

I live in and ski Crested Butte and I personally wasn't hugely impressed. I thought that as a ski that is geared to 50/50 groomed/ungroomed they weren't really all that great at either. When looking to buy an all mountain ski, I ended up on the K2 Tough Luvs.
