Solid.
Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's
April 12, 2008
Got it. Love it. Wear this thing every chance I have. Has served as my baselayer while boarding in a thrashing winter storm, on bluebird days, and hiking through various temps. This shirt is a great starting point for any weather below 80F. Breathes great and its snug fit makes layering easy. Just be prepared to wait as your hiking party continuously stops to strip or add layers, while you relax and chill in this.

Nice for around town use.
Columbia Steens Mountain Full Zip Jacket - Men's
April 12, 2008
Super soft, and comfy fleece. Looks pretty good too. Got it as a gift and fell in love with it. However wasn't quite warm or versatile enough to make the backcountry kit. Casual cut not great for active pursuits. Leaked like a sieve with any sort of breeze. Pockets are situated low for casual use but mostly inaccesible with backpack on. If your looking for an affordable comfortable fleece for casual use, look no further. For serious hiking, backpacking, climbing you'll probably want to go a little higher end.

Believe the hype.
Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Vest - Men's
April 12, 2008
Light and small enough to toss in the backpack without a second thought. Does what its suppose to do, meaning keep you super warm. This and a light shell will get you through ALOT of weather conditions. Great for around the campfire. Im confident in its durability. With dual purpose as my pillow at night it's just hard to go wrong.

Super Comforable. But not the warmest.
Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Sleeping Pad - Rectangular
April 12, 2008
24 ozs and 3 inches thick was what first caught my eye. Yes, this pad is about as comfortable as you can get in the backcountry. Not hard to blow up, and great to use with my BA Lost Ranger bag. Make sure you blow it up quite firm otherwise your body heat will leech into the ground. These are rated only to about 35 F, and that may be a stretch. Wasn't able to sleep due to cold on a 38 F morning. Still like to use it though and will bring along a light closed cell pad next time I'm expecting temps that low.

Quality Knife from a Quality Company
CRKT My Tighe Knife
November 27, 2007
It only takes a couple minutes to get the hang of opening this knife with one hand. But once you do its kinda addicting. Kinda difficult to close one handed but you get the hang of it. When open the blade feels completely solid and ready for whatever you throw at it.

Wicked Jacket
Sessions Continuum Jacket - Men's
November 6, 2007
Sessions put alot of though into this jacket, and the description doesn't quite do justice for this jacket. From the whistle built into the zipper, to the window panel in the wrist gaiter so you can check your watch, to the built in camelbak pocket this jacket dope. The hood and powder skirt are removable, and the flow through vents ensure ample ventilation. There's almost too many pockets in and on the jacket, but Sessions made sure the audio one is super secure so you ipod doesnt get wet, nice. If your looking for an all around jacket you'd be served well to get this one. It's not that heavy so it works great for bluebird days just make sure to size up so you can layer.
