I've been wearing Smart Wool (mid-weight zip up and always, socks) for over a year while running in cool/damp weather -- I don't get too hot. It is very soft and not scratchy. It wicks well so that I feel dry (and I sweat a lot) and I don't get chilled even when I am through with the workout. I gave it for Xmas gifts this year and everyone loves it!
