Katadyn ne PUR
Katadyn Pocket Water Microfilter
July 30, 2004
The pocket filter is great, but heavy. I have used at least six other filters and broke them all. This one can not be beat for capacity and durability. The weight is worth good water and this particular filter could easily be the only one taken with a small to large group. I wont carry anything else except maybe micro pur tabs when the water quality is known to be good already.

Black Diamond Beta Light Shelter
July 27, 2004
This is a great shelter if you use Trekking poles. This works for me. The Sil Nylon is a great material and is extremely weather resistant. However, in extremely wet environemnts condensation forms and will drip on you a bit, but it really is nothing when there is a monsoon outside and you are dry inside. It is roomy and light which makes it near perfect. I have sewn bug netting around the bottom and it is well worth the couple of extra ounces. All around it is my favorite backpacking shelter to date and I've had it for more than a year. Oh... Silnet is a must for the seams.

Awesome!
Marmot Hydrogen Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree Down
July 27, 2004
I have had my Hydrogen for a year already, no tears, no damage. I've been backpacking through the deserts of Southern Utah with extreme heat and cold. The bag was just with me through the Wind river range in Wyoming over some of the toughest trail and off trail adventures I've had. This bag is great, well worth every penny I paid. It has stood up through hard rains under a tarp shelter and kept me warm down to the 20's with poly pro on. Buy this bag, you wont regret it.
