cheaper bag/good for fall spring trips
Mountain Hardwear Lamina 35 Sleeping Bag: 35 Degree Synthetic
October 14, 2007
First of all, we all know mountain hardware to be very good at what they do, and generally I found this bag to be at these standards. I've tested it in the lower 30's nights and never found myself getting cold. Anything colder than that, get another bag. If you are 6 foot, I would suggest to upgrade to the long version. I went with the smaller version and find myself wanting to stretch out fully, but just barely able to. Not as sturdy as I would of hoped from Mountain Hardware, I had a few threads go out by the zipper, but was fixed pretty easily. I've been on 10-15 trips so far with this bag and have found it to meet my fall and spring outings beautifully. In summer I don't use it, I just cover up with a blanket because I would get too hot. Lightweight, and 90% comfortable makes it a 4/5 in my book.

Beautiful support
The North Face Hedgehog GTX XCR Hiking Shoe - Men's
October 14, 2007
On a trip to the Adirondacks, I found myself in more snow than my party was accustomed to on a certain side of one of the mountains. We were post holing all over the place. I say all this to vouch it truly IS waterproof. I have worn these on approximately 10 trips, and wear them any time I'm on my feet for long durations of time. I'm amazed at the support that they offer, and the back issues that I don't have when wearing these shoes. Only issue I have found is sometimes if I don't get the tongues positioned just right they put pressure on the front part of my foot and my foot aches against the pressure. This issue was resolved after working them in completely.

Mountain Hardwear Micro Dome Beanie
October 14, 2007
Works beautifully and fits my medium size head! Nice fuzzy feel to it too. Heed this warning however: If you have a large head it will not cover all of your ear.

Comfortable
Mountain Hardwear Extend Featherweight Tights - Men's
October 14, 2007
With 2 trips under my belt with these find tights, I have found them to be more comfortable than my prior pair. They don't smell half as bad as the other pair I had, and they kept me very warm in 35 degree nights and just right on 50 degree hikes. The fit is right for a 6' medium build adult male.

Unbelievably stylish/useful shell
The North Face Volt Jacket - Men's
October 14, 2007
Let me first off say this is my favorite jacket and find myself rationalizing using it even on days where I necessarily don't need it. Been through many rainstorms, some very sudden and soaking, and it performs just as it should. Repelling rain, and keeping the undergarments dry is perhaps it's greatest strength. Secondly, it keeps the wind from cutting right through you almost as well as it keeps you dry. Probably the biggest problem I've had is getting a wee bit too hot on arduous hikes, but unzipping it completely resolves this problem and taking off layers accordingly. Highly recommended, have had it 4 months and no quality problems yet.
