Real McCoy
Mountain Hardwear Beryllium Jacket - Men's
June 11, 2007
This hardshell by Mountain Hardwear actually delivers. I've worn it on two different occasions in both cold and moist environments where staying dry and pushing hard were equally important. I wore it with only a base layer while hiking through Dolly Sods with six inches of snow on the ground and it breathed well without even opening the pitzips. The articulated sleeves kept the jacket from riding up, even while reaching overhead. It can cinch at the bottom of the hem or higher up to keep out cold air while working with a harness. The hood can be cinched tightly with one hand and stays put well. My body heat dries the surface completely in 15 minutes, so I wear it straight into the tent to enjoy being absolutely dry when it counts. Oh yeah, pockets everywhere.

TNF Baltoro -- Toasty
The North Face Baltoro HV 1000 Winter Boot - Men's

Temps in the negative singles, winds at or above 75 mph, 9 hours shin deep in snow on the slopes of Mount Washington in February -- No worries. My partner for that particular trip was incredibly slow and I spent a lot of time cooling off while waiting for him to catch up, but my feet were never anything but warm all the way to the summit.
