KEEN Targhee ll Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 August 23, 2007

This was my first pair of Keen shoes and overall, I could have made a better choice. I don't know if it's my foot, but I never could get these to fit right. Even though they are a little small, I have a problem with my heel lifting and rubbing. On a 2-day hike in Alaska, this caused blisters. Their waterproofness is fair to good if you're not wading through wet muskeg (I was), but they do not dry very quickly. They breathe rather poorly as well. The construction seems good and the sole is stable, but my foot never felt very "planted" in them. I would probably try another pair of Keens, but unless you can try these on first (or you know you like Keen footwear) you may want to pass.

Good biking tent

Sierra Designs Hyperlight AST Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 4 January 29, 2007

I bought the Hyperlight mainly because it packs smaller in length than most tents. If like me you are looking for something to stash in a relatively small space, it will. It's a hair over 18" long packed. That made a big difference when I needed to fit it in my motorcycle's saddlebags. I've recently bought it for an Alaska trip and it's set up right now in the living room. Like most people will attest to, this is really a 1-1/2 person tent. You will be able to fit another person in it, but if you're buying it for that, you'll do better with another model. It's a very spacious and not-too-heavy tent for one, and it looks like it'll last a long time.
