Big Agnes Dual Core Sleeping Pad - Mummy

June 30, 2008

Yes but they make several sizes and pads to fit so make sure you get the right one. Check out BA's website to make sure what you are looking at is the right size and shape for your bag.

Big Agnes Sleeping Giant Memory Foam Sleeping Pad

June 10, 2008

This pad is a "kit" and meant to upgrade another pad. In other words, you insert another pad into the sleeve of this one and it is not meant to be used alone.

The description on this site does not clearly point this out. Go to BA's site and they clearly describe it as an upgrade to an existing pad.

Big Agnes Encampment Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Polarguard Delta

May 20, 2008

Per BA's site, get a 20in wide rectangular pad (long or reg depending on the size of your bag). I suppose a mummy would be okay but it might slide around a bit inside the sleeze.

Good for larger feet

Palmer Power Link System Standard Lifters

Rating for this product: 4 January 28, 2008

I got a new board along with these risers so I cannot adequately say how much is due to the ride vs the risers but I am definitely carving better. That said, one thing is for sure, I can crank over the edge of my board farther than I ever had before which allows deeper carves. I think it takes a bit more work to move the board edge to edge as you really have to move your legs to get the leverage going but the clearance (I have the shocks at 10mm) is really wonderful for my 11.5 feet.

Palmer is not lying; this board is scary fast, easy handling and responsive

Palmer Crown LE Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 January 27, 2008

This board lives up to Palmer's marketing. It may even live up to its lofty price. This is a fast, responsive board that rides all conditions well. It is expensive but it is loaded with features not found in lesser freeride boards. The base is fast and it is a smooth, excellent carver. Put some energy into the board like when carving and you get a lot of it back as you exit the turn. On top of the speed and the power, I was quite surprised on light it feels on the snow and how easy this thing is to turn. I got a 165 but it feels like a much smaller board when I want to make sharp turns yet is a tremendous carver at speed. I have ridden this board on powder, in the trees, on choppy icy moguls (that was not fun) and hit some jumps (small) in the park. As long as you do not want to do a lot of tricks--it is just too stiff to lend itself to that anything that requires a lot of presses--this is a pretty versatile board. It does however require attention as it is very stiff. The bottom line is that this is a top end freerider. If you are an advanced rider looking for high end boards, you should consider this board.

Good jacket

Burton AK 2L Cyclic Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 27, 2008

The AK line is high end Burton wear typically in a no frills way. You will get functional stuff without a lot of bling. What I like about this jacket is the clean, non flashy look and trim fit. That probably will not appeal to everyone but suits me just fine. The jacket has the features I need and the Gore-Tex has been as advertised so far. I am warmer in my new clothes than before, in part because the Gore-Tex seems to block wind better. It is still a bit early in the season, and therefore not warm enough yet for the Tahoe snow to be really wet but so far, I am bone dry while I see others walking around with wet butt. Of course, I never really had a problem with that in my old gear either as I am not one for sitting around on the snow.

Warm yet not too warm and not too bulky

Marmot Midweight Zip Neck Top - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 27, 2008

I got this for a base layer for snowboarding in the Tahoe area. Tahoe is not very cold and can be warm, especially in the Spring. I really like this shirt. I am surprise at how warm it can be when layering. I also like the that the zip allows me to adjust depending on how warm I am. On top of this, I find it really comfortable as well.
