Unbelieveably Lite and Tough...

Outdoor Research Zealot Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 21, 2008

Ok, so this is just based on first impressions--haven't taken it out for a test drive yet since it blazing hot outside without even a hint of rain BUT I will give you my first impressions and some more data not found in other reviews. First impression quality is superb. For a jacket that feels like it weighs nothing, I really are impressed with the paclite/nylon materials used in this jacket. I don't own any OR gear (mostly gravitate towards MH, Marmot and Arteryx) but OR seems to be top notch quality. I also looked at the OR Foray jacket which was also paclite but full featured and ended up with the Zealot because I liked the fit and lightness better than the Foray. Can't speak to windproofness or waterproofness but others have in their reviews. Speaking of fit, I am 6'1" and weigh 175 and bought a medium. It is about 31" in the rear (it is longer in the back) and about 28" in the front. I have tried it over my Marmot Superhero softshell and it feels perfect. All in all, so far I am very impressed. I have done a lot of research via user and trade reviews and the jacket has about 90% positive feedback. The biggest complaints I have seen is lack of features (not the jacket's fault--it is a minimalist product) and waterproofness is sometimes mentioned as an issue. I will use it for a season and comment on that once I have experience with it. Later!

Great Piece of Gear...

Oakley KO MTB Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 14, 2008

Ok, so on the site, you look at the jersey and think it looks kinda funky. Let me tell you, it is a really flexible piece of gear. I initially bought it to wear under my pressure suit when doing lift access or new FR stunts. It looks so good, I also wear it commuting to work instead of your typical roadie jersey. The place it might not fit in is if you are like me and only wear baggies on the trail (sorry no spandex). If you are wearing baggy shorts and this jersey, it might be too tight for the baggy shorts--could be just me. I am 6'1", 175lbs and the large fits great--snug yet still long in the back. The material is not too thick but not too thin either. Nice piece of gear...

Sleek Design

Highgear Enduro Max Watch

Rating for this product: 5 June 30, 2008

I am sportin' my enduro right now. I love the simple design and sleek lines. I am not biggest fan on the wristband but it is growing on me. The description says the watch has a big face but I think it is perfect. Not too big, not too small and the price was killer. I am sold....

Nice First Impression!

Marmot Exum Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 21, 2008

Just got my Exum jacket. Since it is now spring, I have not had a chance to wear it in the wild yet but my first impression is that this is a great jacket. For being less than a pound, the jacket seems burly. The Goretex Pro material feels bombproof. The gearhead I talked to at the website actually has this jacket and uses it for skiing in the winter and a rain jacket in the summer. The fit is good and the quality of the garment seems impeccable. The zippers all slide nicely. It has won several awards and I can see why. Will post again once I have a better chance to try the jacket in fiercer weather but the Exum leaves a nice first impression....

Sweet Gloves

DAKINE Cross X Glove

Rating for this product: 5 April 7, 2008

So far these gloves are awesome. I use them for trail riding and freeride. The fit is snug. The palms grip nice and the gloves overall are very comfortable. Most of the bros I ride with have these gloves. I liked the fit so well that I bought 3 pairs! I have only had them for a little while so I can't speak about the durability yet but so far I am very pleased and you can't beat Backcountry for service and support!

Nice Jacket

Oakley Inclination Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 15, 2008

I just got this jacket and have not worn it outside so this is just on first impressions. Nice fit. I ordered a medium since the sizing said that it was for people 5'10" to 6'4". I am 6'1" and have a long torso. It is 29.5" long in the back and gives pretty good coverage. I am 180 lbs and the jacket fit fine with a layer or two underneath. The zipper fits snug at the neck which I like. I like the removable powder skirt. Wasn't keen on screened logo--should have been embroidered in my opinion. Nice primaloft insulation. Can't comment on breathability or waterproofness but the spec seems pretty good. Black color is nice. Velco cuffs are nice and tough. Would have prefered a drop tail hem but again the coverage is pretty good compared to similar jackets.

Sweet Watch..

Oakley D1 Watch

Rating for this product: 5 November 26, 2007

This is the first review I have ever done. One of the reasons is that I am the pickiest person ever. My poor wife has given up on me. When I opened up the box, I was immediately impressed. It is a very good looking watch. The programming and layout of the watch is one of the best I have seen/used. I immediately tossed my existing sports watch into the loney, empty Oakley D1 box. I was able to set the time and run through the first level of progamming features in fairly short order--it is pretty intuitive. I can't comment on the rest of the issues others have had since I just got the watch but so far, the D1 has made an excellent first impression.
