404 Clinchers

Zipp Speed Weaponry 404 Wheel Set

Rating for this product: 5 July 10, 2008

I purchased these 2008 404's in Clincher and really love them. These things fly. They climb fairly well and are very solid all-around aero wheelset. I mainly purhased these for triathlons to train and race on. They are strong enough to use as an every day wheel. If I were to go back, I would have purchased the 808's though. Reasoning, Im more into solo rides and basically focus 80% of my training to triathlons. This being the case, I wish I had gone 808 instead of 404. Despite that, I can't give these less than a 5 star for quality and speed.

Flak Transitions

Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ Sunglasses

Rating for this product: 5 April 30, 2008

Check the Transitions, they are great. I ordered the jet black/persimmon trans and they quickly replaced my smiths as my new favorite lenses. I thought smith knew what they were doing when it came to lense quality, but these Transition Flaks are far better. Water, sweat, oil and pretty much any other thing you could think of just beads off of these bad boys. I love nice glasses and think that any active person should treat themselves to these Flaks. I have a medium-sized face and the XLJ's are fine. Check out the Oakley website to see what the different lenses are capable of doing in various conditions. They have a nice little interactive site set up for lenses.

Transitions = Amazing

Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ Transitions Sunglasses

Rating for this product: 5 April 30, 2008

I love these glasses. I wrote a review under the regular Flaks, so I feel as though I should review these because these are the ones I picked up. Specs: I got the Jet Black/Transition-Persimmon glasses above and they are AMAZING. I spent about three days of going to shops and trying the Half Jackets (regular and XLJ) and the Flaks (Regular and XLJ) in all different colors and lenses. I came to the conclusion that the Flaks are the way to go for sport-related use. I am not a fan of a lot of Oakleys weird, bulky stand-outish frames, which the Flaks are borderline. However, they fit my face (medium) very well and had to take the plunge. I would definitely recommend taking a trip to the Oakley website and playing around with the different lens filters. It is a really cool aplication and is the reason I picked up the Persimmon. Sweat, dirt, oil, rain and other particles of whatever that get on your glasses whilst participating in an activity are not an issue here. All of the Flaks come with a sort of Rain Ex layer which repels most things thrown at it. Also, when the "rubber" parts of the frame get wet from sweat, they stick to your face even more. No more playing around with your glasses when they start sliding. These things stay put. Alright, this review is long enough...pick up a pair of these and be prepared for visual perfection.

Answer to: "Will the XLJ lenses fit on a standard Flak Jacket frame? I've..."

Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ Replacement Lens

April 6, 2008

To the best of my knowledge, yes...they will. I was talking with an Oakley rep the other day and he told me that they would fit. I have the XLJ's and they are awesome. Only bad thing is the fact that the Transitions lenses aren't sold seperately yet. Go on Oakley.com and search for a customer service number, they are really cool and will be able to give you a definite answer.

Love it!

Cloudveil Down Patrol Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 5, 2007

I just picked up this bad boy on sale and absolutely love it. I haven't had the chance to make use of the zip-off powder skirt, but the other features such as pit-zips and the zip hood are great. I've been out in temps around 25deg with heavy winds with nothing but a t-shirt under and still seem to be amazingly warm and comfortable. If you are looking for a nice down piece, without the flare, to keep you warm on those chilly wintery days, this is for you.
