Answer to: "will this pack be suitable for standard backpacking. i'm traveling..."

Grivel Alpine Backpack - 35-55L

June 22, 2008

I wouldn't recommend this pack for backpacking unless you are ready to carry fairly lightweight (under 40lbs) including food and water. It really doesnt have the suspension system to handle a heavy load for extended periods of time. I would check out an Arcteryx Bora-it has one of the most weather resistant fabrics available. It is not waterproof, but holds up well to most rain and snow. There is only one waterproof pack on the market, the Arcteryx Acrux line, but it really isn't that great, there are much better packs on the market. Also, check out the Osprey Atmos or Aether and Gregory Baltoro or Triconi packs, again, better suspension systems for backpacking. Hope this helps out a bit. (FYI I am a long time gear shop employee as well as being a mountain guide)

Perfect

Ride DH Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 May 2, 2008

Deck for all around riding. Not too stiff but not too soft. Torsionally great. laterally great. Great in powder, great in the park. Sidecut is slow, but meant for jibbing and jumping more so than carving hard.

Continental Ultra Sport Foldable Clincher Road Bike Tire

Rating for this product: 5 September 28, 2007

I am into Fixie bikes, and I skid a lot, so these tires are perfect. They are great for cruisin, slick for skiddin and can take a beating. I ran through a tire in 4 days. but I was skidding like it was going out of style. Overall I loved them

VAS Entertainment Picture This Snowboard DVD

Rating for this product: 3 September 28, 2007

For a Mack Dawg movie, this was not up to par for what I have seen from them in the past. It was decent, but not film of the year. Good riding, good riders, but it was missing something. Good thing is that missing something comes at the end when JP makes a surprise visit.

This video was actually pretty good and I liked it a lot more than Picture This. I don't care for the tight pants wide stance seen, but they did an alright job putting this up. Austin Smith has the banger part for sure. Overall pretty decent. Check it

Vans AV Era Skate Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 August 10, 2007

These shoes are very light and comfortable, but the only thing I did not like was the heel slips. If you have skinny heels, these shoes may not work, or size them down, they pack out pretty well. Otherwise a decent shoe

Some of the best skate shoes ever.

Vans TNT ll Skate Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 10, 2007

This are a step up from the Rowley's. They have the same classic waffle grip sole, vulcanized, but TNT gave it a sick thick insole that is like walking on air. You can walk in these for days and not hurt.

So sick

Oakley AP Sandbag

Rating for this product: 5 August 4, 2007

So, this bag, is absolutely amazing. Pockets for everything and some. So very comfortable, it fits like a charm. The wide straps make is so comfy on your body, no little nylon straps to dig in and chafe your poor helpless body. I just recently started biking to work and this bag is so much nicer than my backpack. I have all of my bike tools, books, pens, whatever all in there, and its pretty light. I really like the quick release on the chest strap and how the straps can tuck away. I recommend this for the hardcore rider

Stellar shoe!

Pearl Izumi Vagabond M3 Cycling Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 4, 2007

These shoes are the epitome of, the most bang for your buck. Super light, comfy, and sturdy. I wear these for my road rides ( I like the lugs for walking over slick road shoes ) and they fit like a charm. I found they ran a little bit, after I initially sized down. I wear a 9.5 mens shoe, so I thought the 42(size 9) would be perfect, but I could have used the 41. They are a little narrow, but I like narrow shoes despite my fat kid feet. Check em

Epic? I think so

Ride Society Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 June 28, 2007

The Ride Society is pretty much the Cadillac of snowboards. It cruises, it carves, it pops, it jibs. It does anything that you can throw in front of it. I got to ride the 154 last season and absolutely loved it. Once you're past the break in period, its on like Donkey Kong. The Slimewalls make vibrations slim to none and help when gripping on rails. The Cleavedge is so sick, because you can detune to almost nothing and still have an edge. It is the same flex as the DH, but with the Carbon Array of 5 it is a lot snappier than the DH. I demo'd the DH and the sidecut on this is much more superior to the DH. I recommend this deck to anyone with the idea of wanting to shred the entire mountain as their terrain park. Boo Yah!

Nitro Darkseid Snowboard Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 6, 2007

I got a pair of these about 2 weeks ago after a manufacturer's defect on my MFM's( this being the same exact boot as the MFM but with TLS lacing). and it fits as amazing as the MFM. The removable tongue stiffner is amazing as well, rock it with it or without, feels good anyway. The TLS is another thing, it is to die for. It gets your boot dialed in at the beginning of the day and doesn't loosen up until you take them off. They do not pack out easily like 32's and are my favorite boot to date. Rock em!

Nitro MFM Snowboard Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 24, 2007

These boots are it. They are a mid stiff, very comfortable, light and perfect fitting boot. They are snug at first but pack out perfectly. They flex when they need to and are stiff when they need to be. I absolutely love them. I went through 32's already this year and these are still fresh out the box stiff even after 4 weeks of riding.

Zoom Zoom Zoom

Sessions Zoom Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 2, 2007

These pants are honestly everything you could ever want in a pant. They are not super thick and warm nor super thin and cold. They are 10k for both breathing and waterproofing, and they show it also. I spend days lapping the parks at Park City, and they never get soaked through, great ventilation and they can take an abuse from damage, from jibs and rocks, and trees that pop out at you when riding. I recommend these for your 1 pair of pants for the entire year. I have 2 now since I was so impressed. Get your hands on some. Also, Sessions fits large and these pants are a baggier fit, size down if needed.

Skullcandy Ti Stereo Headphones

Rating for this product: 5 February 2, 2007

The SkullCandy Ti's are great headphones for all types of music and most situations. I bought them just before my trip to Oregon and they sound great and even drown out a lot of outside sound. They do not have the bass of the SkullCrusher's, but I like to listen to my music and not be vibrated. They have awesome sound quality and are very comfortable fitting on your head. The earpads cup your ears and its almost like a match made in heaven.

Celtek Clan IV Winter Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 2, 2007

These gloves are sicky dope tight. I loved them for those cold days and the super warm days. Burton Basic Leather Pipe Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 2, 2007

In the Burton Basic Pipe Glove that is. I just recently bought some, because I personally dislike bulky gloves, so I was in the market for a mid size, waterproof glove. This glove is all of those and some. They are warm on the coldest of days, and great for the warmest, the leather can take a beating like no others, and the wrist on them comes up pretty high so snow up your jacket is a thing of the past. I recommend these for all season wear.

Rating for this product: 5 January 26, 2007

I love these goggles, they fit my face perfect, you can sag them like no other, and the lens works for great for most conditions, Sick on sunny but kinda bad for low light days. the mirror is see through, but its enough to keep those nasty UV rays outta your pupils so they don't burn.

These fit great one big noggins like the one I have and over sick goggles. Never fogged up either. Boo Yah!
