The North Face WindWall 1 Vest - Men's
February 9, 2008
I got the vest before heading off on a ski trip to the BC. The vest proved to be one of the best purchases lately. It added one insulation layer to in the most important areas; chest & back just right under the shell. Even being wind-proof it wasn't too sweaty. When climbing up a mountain, the vest proved to be the best choice. I wore it just over a semi-thin fleece jacket and technical layer - it protected from the wind, but yet enabled efficient sweat evaporation. Really great! The craftsmanship seems to be good (will need to see, how it wears - so far, as good as was new). Zippers, pockets & etc have good functional details. Sizing-wise Medium has a bit too much room around the belly area (I'm 6'1 and aren't carrying extra pounds..). The Arc'Teryx sizing is better for me. The collar felt first coming a bit too straight up from the front, but after a while I didn't feel the collar at all. I'd give 5, but the sizing directed to the great masses rather than sport enthusiasts takes one star away.
