Great investment
Jetboil Group Cooking System with 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot
October 25, 2006
Have used this multiple times in the high Uintas with groups of 3 to 4 people. Heats water very quickly and does save weight with having to carry smaller amounts of fuel. I do recommend always carrying a backup stove in case I recommend the MSR Pocket Rocket weighs just over 3 oz and will accommodate the Jetboil group pot with no problems.

Wonderful boots
The North Face Fortress Peak GTX Hiking Boot - Men's
October 25, 2006
I've put these boots to the absolute test! I've worn many many boots on many different occasions and these boots are the best I've used them for 5 or 6 week long treks with a pack upwards of 50 lbs and have never had a spot anywhere on my foot even on the first outing with no break in time what so ever! I've used them snow shoeing and just on a couple of day hikes crossing river beds and streams with out any leakage any where on the boot. I highly recommend these boots even if your looking to spend more money, these boots top them all.

Very lite but not so lite you have to give up the important features like zippers on the ankles!

Don't leave home with out it
Mountain Hardwear Torch Jacket - Men's
October 25, 2006
Best Soft shell I've ever used. Have taken this out on many many backcountry expeditions and it does the job every time. Extremely light weight with very extreme protection. My most recent outing was at about 11,000 ft. in the Rockies we started getting rained on about 8,400 ft our group stopped to put on their rain gear only to find out I had forgotten my rain jacket at home :( All I could do was pull up the hood and keep going I hiked in a down pour that soon turned to a wet snow for about 3 hours the only place I got wet was where my shoulder straps were rubbing right on the jacket. And even then I was not that wet and never cold. Wonderful jacket that has sold itself to pretty much every one on that "3 day vacation." In defense of the front pocket; it is made specifically for a compass or an iPod of some sort and it works perfectly for that. Only downside is it looks a little pretentious wearing such a hardcore jacket into the office on colder days.

Cadillac of all Packs
Arc'teryx Bora 80 Backpack - 4700 cu in
October 25, 2006
Exactly what the other guy said using the big words! Amazing pack couldn't ask for a more comfortable pack! Not a thing on it that I would change. My other pack is a Gregory Lassen and Triconi. Triconi just doesn't have the features I wanted like a daisy chain or removable fanny pack on the top lid. Lassen is pretty much perfect a little lighter and a little cheaper but does not have the white interior to find things quickly which is why I went out and purchased the Bora 80!

Great all around soft shell pants
Patagonia Guide Pant - Men's
October 25, 2006
Great stretch and comfort with a lot of protection. Only downside for me was that I'm 6'3" and have a 34 waist but the pants just weren't long enough to give full protection in snowy conditions, so I opted for the 36 inch waist pants, so I have to wear a belt which adds weight to the pack if I'm not wearing the pants. Most people probably aren't going to have that problem so great pant all the way around.
