The souls on my first pair purchased in autumn of 2000 had worn smooth after about 1200 backcountry miles in all extreme conditions of the 3 seasons the boots are designed for! These are a wonderful boot and sturdy a plenty for hauling heavy packs for many miles. My new pair is the Khaki color I slapped a light coat of Snow Seal on them and headed out. I did a bushwhack around Mt. Watson in the Uintas, and then headed to Yellowstone, where we had pre-winter stormy weather for several days and 60 miles. Super performers and they clean up well.
