Good Bag But Could Be Lighter & Roomier
Eagle Creek Switchback Max ES 22 Convertible Pack
September 16, 2005
I bought this bag because I broke my foot and needed a "backpack" type of luggage for maneuvering through the airport on my crutches. I also wanted the wheels so that I could roll the luggage after my foot heals. Overall, this is a great bag, and very well made. However, I was a bit disappointed in the relatively small compartment size of the main bag (compared to my husband's older model version)--the hidden handle for rolling the bag takes up a lot of interior space because it is curved. The interior was large enough for me to fit all of my desired travel items for a summer weekend getaway, so I was not too unhappy. And the detachable backpack is quite roomy and will hold many items too. The main bag is also a bit heavier when empty than I had anticipated, so I did not feel comfortable with carrying the packed bag on my back when using crutches; I ended up checking the luggage through in the airport, rather than using the bag as a carryon. However, if I didn't have a broken foot, the weight might have been fine. I am pleased with the high quality of the bag, and I like the idea of a lifetime warranty. Even though I was somewhat disappointed in the interior size and the weight, I still think that I made a good luggage choice that allows for versatility in carrying options.
