Just got back from Rainier and Hood. The boots didn't require much break in. Mowed the grass with them a few times. Very comfortable right out of the box. Just the right stiffness. A secure feel front pointing on the steeps of Hood. And warm on Rainier. Big plus... they didn't squeak like the plastic boots. After the mountaineering, I did the Dix range in the Adirondacks with them as a day hike. 18 plus miles, up and down five peaks, the boots gave great ankle support. Comfortable on the walk in/out flats. They are now my all-around boot!
