Not Breathable Enough

Marmot Zion Tank - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 August 28, 2006

This top has a really nice cut and fit. However, considering it's a summer tank top, in hot and humid weather it just didn't have that necessary airy breathability, but rather more of a sticky seal.

Comfy Pants, Good Fit

The North Face Renegade II Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 April 12, 2006

It's hard to find a good fitting flattering pair of pants, but these are just that. They have a little bit of stretch, so they move and give nicely. The fabric is thinner than the typical army cargo type pant making them lightweight and breathable. I would have given these a 5 except the edging on the pant cuffs and pocket flaps are manufactured very slightly worn and I have some concern it may lead to premature wear and tear (like aged denim), especially because I wear them a lot!

Awesome Ski Pants

Ibex Alpstar Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 April 6, 2006

I love these ski pants for cross country skiing, and only wish I found them sooner. They couldn't be more comfortable: lightweight, but warm, totally-move-with-me flexibility, cozy... Alone they are great for skate skiing, breathable, but warm. When classic skiing on the colder Northern Minnesota days I add a layer of long underwear and I'm super toasty. The pants have held up through bush whacking and sliding on ice on my butt. And I feel like a million bucks wearing them, they are super-flattering. In fact I wish I had a pair of jeans that fit like them... Highly recommended!

Solid Pack. Good Women's Fit.

Kelty Redwing Backpack - Women's - 2500 cu in

Rating for this product: 5 April 6, 2006

Overall the fit is great, and the comfort and stability is very good for the convenience of hauling gear while allowing easy frequent access. I use this for field work, day trips, lightweight overnights, and grocery runs. I'm very grateful Kelty still makes this style pack and offers a Women's pack for a Woman's shorter torso. If you are carrying a lot of stuff, especially large, bulky, awkward shaped, non-moldable items, like equipment, and you want to access it frequently, this is a great pack. It has a roomy open central chamber that makes packing easy. (Much preferred to over-compartmentalized packs that require "just so" packing strategies.) The zipper opens the whole front of the pack, allowing easy access and viewing to all the contents. (Preferred over top entry packs that take a little time to unclasp, reach into the depths and fish around, or unpack and repack...) Its big volume makes it wider than the usual top loader, giving your head more room, but the sides more bulk. The one downside is that it doesn't have top stabilizer straps, so a heavy load can sway a little more than a top loader with top stabilizing.

Great for the Outdoor Workout

Icebreaker BodyFit260 Olympia Zip - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 December 12, 2005

It's -5F and the Olympia Zip top with a lightweight jacket is great for skate skiing. Better yet, I've worn it 4 days in a row without washing. It doesn't stink, keeps me warm during the workout and warm afterward while drying off. The zip-up neck takes the place of my turtle fur that usually winds up covered in frost and frozen to my chin. It has a nice length to the body, well covering the waist/abdomen/kidney zone from breezy air and snow flurries. The arms also are long enough for my long arms making the top still comfortable while utilizing the thumb holes, which help keep my wrist and hands warmer. And you can't beat the stylish racing stripes. Definite two thumbs up.
