Will never go back to laces.
The North Face Arnuva 50 BoaTrail Running Shoes - Women's
March 4, 2008
I love these shoes mostly because of the Boa system. There are absolutely no pressure points on the top of my feet. I actually had these same shoes with the laces and hated them. I don't think I will ever buy another pair of running shoes without the Boa system. The shoes are also comfortable and roomy. My feet are a little wide and fit perfect in these. Would recommend them to anyone.

Not the best I've seen
NRS Metro Pump
July 5, 2007
Not bad for something I needed on such short notice, but this definitely isn't as powerful and fast as some others I have seen and used. It'll do though.

I love this boat
Tributary Tomcat Tandem Inflatable Kayak
June 25, 2007
For the price, you can't go wrong. I've used this boat for single and multi day trips and pretty soon a self support ducky trip. It has been amazing every time I have taken it out. It is quite durable and stable. I've been over several Class III/IV rapids that I thought for sure I would flip in, but was fine. I'm not saying it's impossible to flip this because I have definitely swam in this, but mainly because we weren't facing the right direction when going over the rapid. There is plenty of space and loops behind the back seat for all your own gear when doing a self support trip or if you just want to take a day bag. Both seats have a zippered pouch behind them for easy access. They are not dry bags, though, so they are mainly for stuff that can get wet (drinks, etc) or to put a small dry bag in. There is also a cup holder behind each chair. The only issue I had with this IK is the chair backs aren't high enough. They would be a lot more comfortable if they were higher. Otherwise, an all around great boat for the money.

So comfortable
Big Agnes Sleeping Giant Memory Foam Sleeping Pad
June 21, 2007
I bought this specifically to try on a 5 day/4 night river rafting trip. I wanted something comfortable, but needed something that wouldn't take up too much room. This was perfect. It is so comfortable. It comes with the sleeping pad and the memory foam on top of that. The only problems with it are that the sleeping pad doesn't inflate on its own. I had to blow it up myself which led me to be quite light-headed. The plus side of having to blow it up is that it is really easy to roll up. Unlike inflatable pads, I don't have to roll this up twice just to get all the air out. The other problem is that since I'm using this for car camping, I take a full size pillow. I bought the regular size pad and I barely fit on it with my pillow. I'm 5'4", so I would suggest buying the long if you are any taller than that or use a smaller pillow. So now I take this on all my car camping and river trips and I sleep so comfortable. Much more so than when I was using my other pad.

A must for car camping
ALPS Mountaineering Regular Dining Table
June 10, 2007
This table is great for car camping. It was nice to have even at sites with tables just to have the extra space to put stuff on especially when camping with a larger group. The table is fairly easy to put together. The only problem is the black pieces on the end tend to fall out when it's not put together. They are little so could be easily lost. Besides that, the table folds up nice and has its own carrying bag. The main reason I bought this table was to prepare food on. I have not used it as a dining table. We tend to sit around a fire and eat.

Stops the leaks
CamelBak Hydrolock
June 10, 2007
I bought this for a friend because her Camelbak tube kept leaking. It worked like a charm and she doesn't have to worry about water dripping on her constantly. Such a simple thing for a major problem.

Amazing Bag!
The North Face Base Camp Duffel Bag - 2560-9070cu in
June 7, 2007
I bought this as a gift for a friend who works in Wildland Fires. He used it to hold all his fire gear and took it with him on all the fires. The bag has stood up to a lot of abuse and is still in excellent condition. The shoulder straps are great for carrying such a large bag. The daisy chains on the outside were useful for attaching items he needed handy. He absolutely loves this bag and got a lot of his Wildland buddies to purchase one as well.

Great Bag
Pacific Outdoor Equipment Expedition Dry Duffel Bag
June 7, 2007
The best feature of the bag is the air release valve. Don’t forget to close it when throwing your stuff on the boat for the day or you will have moist underwear. The large top zipper makes it easy to access gear and you don’t have to pull everything out of the bag to get to the goods at the bottom. The bag is really big (I got the XL). If fully filled, it would be large, heavy and awkward to move but the multiple padded strap configuration gives you a lot of options. Perfect for multi day trips.

Wildwasser Dry Bag 1500ci

Nothing special to report on this. Kept things dry, fastening system feels a little flimsy but works fine. The window in the bag is key, they should only make dry bags with windows!

Simplicity is Best
Sierra Designs Antares Tent 3-Person 3-Season
June 7, 2007
This tent is great because of its simplicity. The two doors and vestibules keep you from crawling all over your tent-mates stuff and the inside is roomy enough to change clothes and keep a few vital items inside with you without taking up too much ground space. The rain fly has served me well and kept me dry with a small exception. If it is really wet out, the water can run off the door of the fly into the tent while you are going in and out. The protective flaps on the zipper of the fly also have a tendency to get stuck in the zipper. For the price, this is a good tent. Simple, manageable and relatively fast to set up. I purchased an OR tent for twice the price of this one and hated for all the reasons I like this one.

Good Ice Climbing Pant
Mountain Hardwear Synchro Pant - Women's
February 26, 2007
I bought these to wear ice climbing because I didn't like the fit of my other pants. These fit better, except in the waist. I have big legs, so the size that fit my legs did not fit my waist. This pant would be perfect if it had some sort of cinch mechanism to make the waist fit better. My bf had the same problem with his pants. Otherwise, these pants were great. I was able to move with ease because of the elasticity of the fabric. They have zipper vents which come in handy when hiking. They really do keep the moisture out. They also have reinforced material on the inside ankle which are nice if you accidentally catch it with your crampons. I've been very impressed with this pant and really like it except for the waist being too big. The pants do have belt loops, so a belt will help with that problem.

So Warm!
The North Face Himalayan Mitten

Great Ice Climbing Jacket
Backcountry.com Shift Softshell Jacket - Women's
January 12, 2007
I was planning a trip to Ouray, CO to do some ice climbing and needed a soft shell. I decided to try out the Shift Softshell. The stretch and flexibility of the fabric was perfect for ease of movement while climbing. Also very durable. I accidentally stepped on it with my crampons and it didn't even leave a mark. The shell is water resistant and it easily repelled water from the dripping ice. The interior lining made it really comfortable. Since I tend to get cold, I decided to wear my down vest underneath the jacket. Because of the elasticity of the jacket, it easily zipped up over the bulkiness of my vest and I was still able to move freely. Plus it looks great. The form fitting cut is flattering and made it a great jacket to just wear around town. All in all, I was very impressed with this jacket and I had a great weekend of climbing.
