Skills to pay the bills

The North Face VaporWick Tee - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 4, 2005

These shirts are awesome. They keep you cooled off while you're running due to their amazing wicking capabilities (making it easier for evaporation) and they keep you dry. At the end of the race if you dive into the lake, the shirt dries off in a matter of minutes. Get a few of these things - you won't be disappointed.

Runnin' shorts, gone wild.

The North Face Hydrenalite Hiking Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 4, 2005

This is a super lightweight pair of shorts. TNF did everything possible to cut down the weight, while maintaining their duties of covering your nakedness. Long cut (goes over the knee) makes for a stylish running short (no more scaring the neighbors with your super white thighs.) I bought a couple pairs, love 'em.

Runnin' Fools

The North Face Sieve Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 4, 2005

I've been running roads with these things for a week, and haven't ever worn a more comfortable shoe. For the first time ever, I can run mile after mile without experiencing shin splints. The sides are mesh-like, allowing for great ventilation, and these suckers are ultra light. I've been dissatisfied with TNF footwear in the past, but these things have completely redeemed The North Face. Nice work, fellas.

Short...but sweet

The North Face Flight Trail Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 April 14, 2005

So, on an annual basis I do this race called the Wasatch Back Relay--a 172 mile relay race from northern Utah to Park City. My first couple months of training were done in heavy, baggy, sagging skate shorts which acted like a parachute to my average min/mile time. I decided I'd bite the bullet and get a pair of the classic short running shorts--these are they. Gotta tell you, putting these things on made me at least 4 times faster - no joke. Super lightweight, and surprisingly to me, the shortness of the shorts actually made it easier to run. Anyone out there willing to get their run on...get these shorts, immediately.

Shred the Gnar

Black Diamond Havoc Telemark Ski

Rating for this product: 5 December 23, 2004

After 30 days on this beast, I've come to realize this is the greatest tele ski I've ever been on. Ultra snappy when you tell it to be, or lay out fat GS turns. You can't max this ski out. Rips the groomers, tears crud apart, and makes skiing powder a dream. Ultra light weight makes touring an anticipation, rather than a chore. Advanced to Expert tele skiers - this is your next ride.

Nice Rack

Yakima Copperhead Bike Mount

Rating for this product: 4 July 19, 2004

The Copperhead does everything I need it to do. I haul my bike to trailheads all over the Wasatch Front and Back flawlessly, day after day. One complaint, small, but still: At highway speeds the bikes can get a little shake going...I'm not afraid of them falling off, and it doesn't damage the bikes in any way - but watching a car drive down the road with a 2000 dollar bike on their roof shaking to the wind is a little sketch. I ain't skerd though. Great rack for the price.

Jetboil Personal Cooking System

Rating for this product: 5 July 19, 2004

Check this out...a stove that cooks your food, boils your water, and packs into the size of a Nalgene. No need for bulky, heavy pots and pans - it's all built into this sweet little cooking system. Sure, you can't fry an egg on it, but I've made some damn good poached eggs using this stove. Built in handle allows you to brew your morning coffee and sip right out of the container...no need for one of those Snow Peak Titanium mugs. Great value, great stove, great space and weight saver. Try it for yourself.

Oh, they're running shorts alright.

The North Face Flight Trail Short - Mens

Rating for this product: 4 July 19, 2004

I picked up a pair of these to run in the Wasatch Back Relay (170 Miles in 24 hours.) I'd been training for the two prior months in baggy Volcom skate shorts - threw these on for race day, and man was I ever fast. Just putting on running shorts automatically shaves at least 2 minutes off your average mile time. They were short, for my taste anyway, but they did their job, that's for sure. If you're into running, and want a pair of shorts that goes almost to your knees...these are them. Not so hot for hitting the bars - you might not be attracting opposites.

Sandals that hike - word.

Chaco Z/2 Terreno Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 19, 2004

I've always wanted a pair of sandals with enough support and traction to head out for a full day's hike. Found it! These things rock, period. So far I've been on day hikes, trail runs, river trips and long boarding endeavors with these things and am yet to be disappointed. Good for anything you throw at 'em. Don't hesitate, buy some now.

Spy Scoop HS Sunglasses

Rating for this product: 5 June 4, 2004

I snagged a pair of these with some polarized lenses (shades are interchangeable) for fishing. These things are so much more that fishing glasses. Used for biking, running, hiking as well; no fog. Pretty light frame, very comfortable, and hot as The Man himself. Good for any activity, take my word for it.

Dog Bowl for the Dogs

Granite Gear Slurpin Water Bowl

Rating for this product: 5 June 3, 2004

Packs really small - holds a whole bunch of water. I bought the Large because I've always got two Large dogs. Should have got the Medium, it just takes way too much water to fill. After a long desert run, my dogs are totally in to this thing.

One of the best all around shells in the world.

The North Face Flight Jacket - Mens

Rating for this product: 5 June 3, 2004

I picked this thing up last winter to ski in. The thing blew my mind. No water ever gets in, no matter what kind of snow, or rain, or sleet...this jacket is bomber. Don't only use it for skiing, very trustable in the worst of all rainstorms. Next time i'm chasing a tornado, I'll have this on.

Runnin'

The North Face Ultra 102 Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 3, 2004

These shoes have been very good to me. I've been running in these for about a month now, and they're construction is still holding up very strong. Great grip for running trails, or for hopping fences. I generally wear a size 8, but wish I went with an 8.5 for these - they run a little small. Bottome Line: Highly recommended.

Blanca Packs for Everyone

Kelty Blanca Backpack - 2000cu in

Rating for this product: 5 August 12, 2003

This has gotta be the nicest daypack I've seen in my entire life. The suspension system on it rocks! Never before have I hiked with a pack this comfortable. I'll agree with Geda fully, the Source Reservoir is key! Water tastes great, and doesn't get all heinous and rotten inside if you leave your water in it for a few days. So many pockets, it's like you have to actually look for things to put in the pockets, instead of looking for a place to keep your stuff. The built in sunglasses case is amazing, finally a case to put your 200 dollar sunglasses in without worrying about them getting FUBAR. By far the best pack for day hikes, cruising town, or pretending like you're homeless. Right on, Kelty!

The Petzl MYO 3

Petzl Myo 3 Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 August 1, 2003

I love this headlamp! The LED's last forever and provide plenty of light for most activities, and where they fail, there's a xenon halogen bulb to brighten up your night also. The light focuses, so you can broaden your visibility, or lay an intense beam on a critter of some kind. Everyone should have a headlamp in their car incase of a flat tire at night - I recommend the MYO 3!
