These pants are a lot baggier than other arcteryx stuff and don't make you look like a tard like a lot of other technical gear. I've never had a problem with water leaking in even though these are softshell. Ridiculously windproof!!!! with the softshell fleece type liner on these you hardly even have to wear a baselayer on your legs. Oober comfy and don't make you look like a tool.
Bottom Line:
Unless you spend more time on the ground than actually skiing I wouldn't worry about the waterproof'ness
