Ranked #26 - Avalanche Beacons

There are a lot of avalanche transievers out there touting there technological superiority, but the bottom line and most important fact about the Tracker is it is the FASTEST! I have been involved in the real deal, avalanche searches with buried victims, and my experience with the Tracker has been nothing short of stellar. This beacon is intuitive and friendly and all my friends use them as well as my wife, a 17-year patroller who still kicks my ass in search contests.

I'm with Chris on this one. There are a few new techno-advanced beacons on the market, but I know this one actually works. We saved my best friend's life in a huge slide in Chile, and all of us were using the access tracker....including him. That is enough for me.

Technically, the range of the tracker is 99 meters, about a football field with the best conditions. Depending on the orientation of the buried beacon, range may be slightly less.

Chris, how many other trancievers do you use on a regular basis? What is the range of the tracker.
