Nice bag for + 40 degrees

Ranked #207 - 55 to 30 Degree Down Bags

This is a great 40 degree bag. Unfortunately some bonehead at Marmot rated it at a less than honest 30 degrees. I tend to sleep "cold" but not THAT cold, I froze my a8$ off at 30 degrees. Thanks Marmot.

Were you using a sufficient ground pad? How much clothing were you wearing? Were you in a tent? a bivy sack? under a tarp? under no shelter at all? Was it windy? There are so many factors. To say this bag was rated dishonestly is just fucking silly. It's a very general average. "Some bonehead" doesn't rate the bags, They do it electronically with sensors inside the bag.

rather or not a person gets cold in a bag at a certain temp is highly subjective and depends on many factors, cant really judge a bag based on if a person gets cold in 1 or 2 uses. Besides, I love Marmot stuff! I allways defend them! ha!ha!

Generally, I've found the ratings for all bags to be "you won't die at this temperature" not that you'll be cozy. If I'm going to be sleeping in sub freezing weather, I'm going to take my 0* bag. For a cold sleeper, a 30-40* bag is a good summer weight, add a liner for spring and early fall.
