Does it ALL!

I have a pair of Dukes on a Volkl Katana's = the ultimate set up for backcountry ski touring and aggressive skiing. Although this binding is on the heavy side, it is the BOMBER! I'd pick a little weight for a sense of confidence in my bindings any day. If you're a light weight and this is too much binding for you, consider the new Marker Baron. I skied the Baron too and it skis very similar to the Duke, but it is lighter and has a lower din setting. If you're looking to skin up Superior or Cardiac Ridge... and then pointing it down with ripping super G turns, then the Duke is the perfect binding!
