WOW! These are wide!

By Ranked #584 - Alpine Park and Pipe Skis August 7, 2008

Alright, so I bought these with one idea of sizing in mind, my usual length of 176 for freeride/park skis (I bought the 178 Jib). Then today they came in the mail and I unwrapped these insanely gorgeous park/freeride/fat skis--they even say 'WIDE' on the factory skew sticker. I almost think that the 178 might be too much ski for throwing down in the park--unless your going big (40'+) and want the landing gear of a 747 on your feet. I'm 5'11", 165 lbs. and I'm thinkin' these are a bit too big. Just keep in mind these puppies are bigger than you think and you will probably want risers to add some extra torque to help lay the wood over on the groomers. But if you want a big ski for huge air, crud crunching, 30'+ cliff landings and powder surfing--the 178 for my size is perfect. Just make sure you know where you want to mount your stance and have someone who knows what the hell they're doing with freeride mounting style handle the set-up.

BOTTOM LINE: They're built like a brick $#!t-house (5/8" thick in the center) and worth every penny.
