Great Shoes--If You Can Determine the Correct Size...

I normally wear a size 10.5 EE, so I ordered these shoes in a size 11. The 11 was way too small, so I returned them and ordered a 11.5--still too small! I tried one more time and ordered a size 12, and finally found a size that would fit my foot. The shoes are a little loose in the heal and a little "shallow" in the footbed area, but after wearing them for a week or two they began to break in and these limitations became less noticeable. The are great shoes, but be sure and order at least one full size larger than what you normally wear.

Targhee II is a very comfortable shoe for normal hiking but one has to be very careful while hiking in the mountains on the wet rocks or going down the gravel like surface. The shoes slip a lot. A long hike down the mountain on intensly downsloping trail could be quite unconfortable in these shoes. I had to get a replacement pair because the stiching on one shoe completely opened only after 5 hikes. Otherwise they are great for normal trails.
