"Black Hills Tested, Geologist Approved" - Review of Salomon Mega Trek 6 Light WP Hiking Boot - Men's

I'm a Geology student and avid backpacker so if my feet aren't ready to go I'm not ready to go. I just returned from an 18 day mapping trek in the Black Hills of SD and WY. These boots were put through hell, from scree running steep descents to scratching up near vertical faces to mired in the badlands. The stiff shank and well designed chasis are awesome, they provided the perfect amount of support in both ascent and descent. Pulling miles up and down grade every day with a pack my feet never became fatigued, nor did i experience any back pain like with previous experiences with $400+ boots. Salomon's lacing system is perhaps the next best thing to a good hiking boot as the invention of goretex, they lock and stay locked... nuff said. Traction is superb in all conditions, mud, wet rock etc.. Weight was never an issue with these boots, the fit and light weight synthetics made it as if they weren't even there. All in all buy this boot, there are plenty of more expensive boots out there, with all the new BS bells and whistles but to tell the truth i've tried a lot of them and this pair of salomons take the taco. Simply put, they're excessively comfortable, absolutely water proof, light and durable. No Complaints. Salomon has earned a place in my pack for a long time coming.
