I used my Salomon Expert Hiking Boots extensively for winter hiking in the Northern section of the Appalachian Mountains, ice climbing in the Adirondacks and mountaineering in the Alps. My feet are generally susceptible to blisters, but I had no trouble with this pair. Only in the Alps after prolonged use of crampons I developed "hot spots" in the back of my feet. Some athletic tape took care of the situation, so no blisters developed.
I must note superior traction that these boots provide on various types of rock or moraine debris. I wore these boots with Black Diamond Sabretooth Step-In Crampons.
