Steve Zigs apparently had a misconception of what these boots are for. They are not hiking boots, they are work boots and are kind of a more "work" version of the SI military boot. I have both the SI and these and while I slightly prefer the SI to these for comfort, so far the tactical six seems to be more durable. However both boots are fantastically comfortable and cannot really be compared to a more heavy duty hiking boot like my pair of Vasque's as they have quite a different feel and I have not used either of the Oakley boots for any backpacking trips although there are lots of reviews by military guys who love the boots and they lug some heavy gear around.
