"Greenland in the Netherlands" - Review of The North Face Greenland Down Jacket - Girls'
Life in the Netherlands is Windy, Wet and Cold. This jacket has performed well this winter but it's not perfect.
Cons: Children's jackets have no drawstring on the hood, so in windy conditions it blows right off. They rarely use the hood since it's usually rainy AND windy at the same time.
The zip goes all the way up over the chin but my 8 & 6 yrs. old daughters don't like it.
Jacket is warm but left them feeling chilled on days below 40 degree F (4C)...winds 15mph+ (24 KpH).
Even though label says it can be machine washed on delicate, the down did not hold up in the wash...Machine washing is NOT recommended.
Pros: Waterproof factor is excellent but after continual use for 6 months straight I've noticed a little bleeding on the external side of the fabric. Even so, it's still dry on the inside.
The Length is good...falls just at the hip. Longer than many jackets but not cumbersome like the knee length jackets.
Overall, this jacket can be worn in temps. 50-57F(14C-10C) and 40-49F(9C-4C) comfortably without extra layers. It's too warm for 58F-60F and too cool for the 30-39F(4C-0C) with wind. Waterproof is good. Hood not good. Recommend Dry Cleaning only.
