"Great but fundamentally flawed!" - Review of Merrell Overdrive Gore-Tex XCR Shoe - Men's

These shoes are excellent in almost every way, and I had recommended them to many people before discovering a critical design flaw. Though impervious to most environments, anything resembling fine sand will penetrate the outer layers of the shoe, and lodge permanently in the inner layers. After just a few outings, my pair are like salt shakers, and must be carrying at least 2 extra pounds of sand. I've tried just about everything to get the sand out, but the best I can do is about 50%, and they just fill up the next time I go out! While I would love to recommend these shoes, everything good about them is lost if you are ever exposed to sand. Also I would like to mention the excellent purchase and customer service experience here at this site. It really does make a massive difference, and I highly recommend purchasing here.
