"Amazing Harness" - Review of Black Diamond Chaos Harness

Rating for this product: 5 By Angus Bohanon (11) on April 8, 2008
I have never once found a situation this hasn't excelled at, from 6 consecutive hanging belays in Black Velvet Canyon to 25-foot whippers on the Trophy Wall to having to carry 22 draws plus anchor setups in Owens. I am 5'9", 140 pounds, and the medium fits me perfectly. The huge wide section at the back of the waist strap is really nice for hangdogging or consecutive rappels, and the leg loops catch falls with no pinching of chafing. Plenty of space for tons of gear without feeling like it's pulling the harness down. I haven't found a downside, but a ski racer friend of mine (5'11", 185) says that during ski season, his quads get too big for the leg loops and he wishes they would adjust. I personally like the simplicity of two less straps and don't have the ubermuscle problem, so not an issue for me. And just to answer the "Confused" question (in case anyone was going to use the example), yes, it will work on the moon.
