Boot Fit Is Key!

Ranked #1029 - Men's Mountaineering Boots

I have always appreciated Salomon's innovation in footwear. Their snowboard boots are among the best I've tried. The Pro Ice climbing boot is also an outstanding value. A rigid platform, with external heel stabilization provides good frontpointing comfort on long climbs. The fairly soft ankle flex allows for good French technique as well. Sensitivity isn't the best I've seen and the boots seem a bit bulky for non-plastic climbers. However, they fit my feet very well, and that's the bottom line for me and a successful climbing boot. I'd use these for vertical ice as well as mountaineering in moderate climates (such as Colorado).
Good boot, great value.
