not so cool

By Ranked #125 - Avalanche Beacons February 20, 2008

It works, like all beacons, but has very big issues. I have seen it not be able to find its own kind in a practice run. The smart probe technology seems kind of like a scam, I know I don't want anyone turning off my beacon until my face is sucking in O2s again. And the multiple burial signal blocking or "flagging" would be worth the extra cost if I could tell where that last signal was that I just "blocked". For the price the technology doesn't even come close to the other intelligent beacons, like the incredible Ortovox S1. Peips makes a beacon that works, but better is the beacon that works well for everyone, not just scientists and tech geeky individuals.

LifeLongbackcountryskier has been in the back country too long. Do some fact checking before you post; especially if you are going to bag on a product when you are actually talking about its strengths. The first fact you might want to check when you return from the backcountry.....a meter is longer than a yard so 70 meters is roughly 76 yards not 64 yards like you listed in your first post.
