Great quality fitting softshell with a lower price

By Ranked #1178 - Men's Softshell Jackets December 27, 2007

Pros:
-Very comfortable. The jackets conforms to the body well.
-High build quality. OR is known for quality products and this jacket lives up to that standard.
-Very Breathable/Insulates well. This jacket has made it through nearly all elements (i.e. rain, snow, hail, wind, sun) without being too cold or too hot.
-Well designed pockets. There are hand pockets, inside and out breast pockets. All of them are waterproof and very usable. I don't use the inside breast pocket much, but I'm sure some will find a use for it.
-Hook-and-loop zipper flap. Most flaps are button/hook-and-loop, which is annoying to me. This one is purely hook-and-loop and I love it.
-Very cheap. Not many soft-shells are at this price and I wouldn't consider them if they are.

Cons:
-Difficult to zip at times. (I might be retarded, but the double zipper doesn't zip up easily sometimes).
-No hood. This is not a problem if you'll be using this solely as an insulating layer.

I always have a hard time finding clothes that fit me well because I have a wide chest and broad shoulders. So most jackets are either tight up top and too short (sleeves and torso) or loose up top and too long. I usually end up getting a tight jacket and leaving the pit-zips open, which sucks when it gets cold and looks weird.

However, this jacket fits me perfectly because it conforms to my body shape with ease. It still is a little tight up top, but it is nowhere as restricting as most jackets.

I live in Seattle and have experienced 30-degree weather as well as snow. It was a bit cold with a t-shirt underneath, but is very warm if coupled with a medium-weight base layer. Using this jacket with a light-weight base layer with an outer-shell is a great combo for cold days on the mountain.
