Burton Down Jacket - Men's

Definately not getting what you pay for!!

By Ranked #34 - Men's Down Jackets December 21, 2007

At first glance this jacket was really cool. It looked great and had a ton of pockets and handy features. However, when I put it to the test out in the field it did not keep me warm. In my mind the primary reason for purchasing a down jacket at this price is to keep you warm; everything else is secondary!! There is almost no insulation in the sleeves. To keep my forearms from getting chilled I would have to wear a long sleeved sweatshirt underneath. In all honesty I really wanted to like this jacket. It looks awesome and there are some features that are really useful, but in the end the thin skimpy sleeves simply would not do. You might as well be wearing a down vest. This jacket might be fine for mild conditions and minimal wind, but as soon as the temp plummets and the winds pick up you'll wish you had something warmer. If you're thinking about buying this, I would recommend getting the Mountain Hardwear Downhill Parka. It has many of the same features and pockets, but with more down, a better waterproof and breathable rating, and the sleeves are more insulated.
