Gerber Paraframe I Knife

Too bad for such a nice looking knife

By Ranked #835 - Kayak Accessories August 30, 2007

I paid $18.93CDN for this knife at Walmart
Originally I would have rated this knife a 4 or 5, but the frame lock failed the second day I had it. The replacement looked to have he potential for lock to fail in the same way, so I opted for my money back. The knife felt really nice in my hand, one handed opening was no problem, and it was easy to use right or left handed. Blade sharpens was so-so out of the box, but I had no problem sharpening it. The 3" blade makes it a perfect sized pocket-knife for everyday use, from cutting boxes to tinder. I returned it because a blade that does not stay locked is an accident waiting to happen. Initially the lock mechanism worked well but it quickly loosened up. The second day that I used it the frame lock would not work at all making the knife dangerous to use. Part of the frame was not connected under the pocket clip and this would catch on my pants, but once the knife was clipped you knew it was secure. I know that I did not get to really put this knife through its paces because of the faulty lock. If I could find one that had a decent lock on it I would be willing to give the knife another try.
