Ranked #431 - Men's Rain Pants
July 11, 2007
as with the rain shadow jacket, these pants are hardly waterproof in heavy rain and do not breathe. You will get wet even in no rain from transpiration build up on the inside. They are not easy to get on over hiking boots and ride up the ankles. ankle zippers come unzipped if left partly open to fit over boots. Without gaiters they are worthless.
Plus=compressible. also they seem to have minor rippage with lots of use so I guess the 'ripstop' works well.

I wore (and am still wearing) these pants from 2007. They are waterproof. I spend 100-200 days a year in the field backpacking for work and have been pretty happy with their overall performance. I've gotten wet from perspiration when hiking fast, but they dry out when I wear them around camp in the rain. Now they have full side-zips and weigh another 3oz.

I am not sure why you have a problem getting them over your boots. With the calf-height zipper, I can get them over a big pair of boots I snow shoe in, and the snap at the bottom keeps them from unzipping.
