"YAH! I don't have to buy Chaco's" - Review of Teva Volterra ALP Sandal - Men's
As a loyal fan of the venerable Teva ALP pro sandal, I was pretty excited when I saw these for sale. My last pair (of 6) of ALPS had started to wear past the sole and I couldn't find anyplace to resole them I was starting to worry.
I found these and have to say after 1 day of wear, I am very pleased with this sandal. The improved foot bed and sole improve the comfort of the sandal. I have always preferred a sandal with skinny straps over the classic Teva style strap. The ankle buckle is comfortable and doesn't rub. The hook and loop closure adjustment looks fairly sturdy. The toe loops are comfortable and the buckles prevent slippage. An overall good sandal. I would give it a great but have two quibbles.
#1) The ankle strap attachment points do not look like they are going to last the 4+ years I expect from a $75 pair of sandals. #2) The strap on the bottom of the sole (closest to the arch) looks like it might wear faster than I would hope for.
Overall my impression and first days wear is good. These sandals look like a worthy successor to the ALP Pro. If anyone has a pair of the classic ALP Pro's in size 14 email me otherwise I think I'll buy a couple of spare pairs of these at the end of the season in case Teva kills these like they did the ALP.
