The decision to wear mittens vs gloves requires a willingness to trade dexterity for warmth. Once that point has been reached, you can begin to appreciate the features of these mittens. Construction quality is what you'd expect (flawless). I had initially been concerned about being too warm when exerting, but the moisture wicking leaves you with dry hands. You stay warm on the lift and don't get too warm while skiing. Lanyards and drawstrings are in the right places and easy to work (even when the mittens are on) and an adjustable strap at wrist level lets you custom fit them a bit. Because they are gauntlets, they are BIG and because they are down filled they have some loft to them, but you can still drive with them on and manipulate control knobs and door latches. After using them through one of the coldest winters ever (Yeah, Northern NY), I wouldn't think of trading them and am very pleased with my purchase. By the way, BackcountryStore.com delivered them exactly when they were scheduled.
