Gear Review
Very comfortable, insoles tearing after 2 weeks
The Columbia Holgate is a very comfortable, snazzy-looking shoe. Unfortunate, the "Memory Comfort System" insole that Columbia uses has some problems. I purchased the Holgate as a replacement for the Columbia Amherst, which also uses the MCS insole. Two months after purchasing the Amherst, the lining of one shoe's insole had almost completely detached from the cushiony bottom. But they were soooooo comfortable that I purchased the Columbia Holgate as a replacement (also with the MCS insole), hoping that the defect was just a fluke. Two weeks after buying the Holgate, I found the insole's lining beginning to tear away from the cushion. Buyer beware: they're wonderful to wear and look like $1,000,000, but the insoles do not last.
