Gaiter remedies - try simple electrical hardware

By Ranked #417 - Women's Trail Running Footwear March 19, 2007

I’ve had my gaiters for 3 years now (ab)used in the rain, mud, ice, and snow. Encountered most of the problems mentioned in prior reviews. Yes, elastic bands do fail. Fix: Use grass trimmer string instead of elastic – cut length to allow snug slip-on/fit. Toss original black plastic end (keep “adjuster” - press string into it) and use a small (yellow) wire nut to tie ends. Tuck under gaiter. Torn laces? Fix: Use a plastic cable tie strap. Make a small loop placed where shoes laces first cross nearest your toes. Hook gaiter to tie strap.
