hot mitts

These mittens fit PERFECTLY! I have long fingers, but being a girl, men's mittens never work because the thumbs are always way too big. I liked that there is a removable liner, which would be great for really cold days, because I found that I needed to take the mittens off a lot to do anything fine-motor (like go into my pocket for money or a camera) and you could probably avoid exposure and still maneuver well in the lining.
That being said, I've only tried them on mild days, so I was WAAAAY too hot in them with the liner, and had to bare-hand it when taking off the mitten. They dried really quickly and weren't that uncomfortable when damp either.
The drawstring gauntlet over the sleeve is a BIG plus for keeping snow out--I'll never go back to the under-sleeve or shorter kind. There's also a cinch on the wrist which keeps the mitten in place nicely too. There are strings that you can slide up to attach to your wrists (think camera strap style), so that if you take the mitten off, you can just let it hang while you move around messing with zippers on your clothes or goggles or whatever without worrying about dropping the mitten or losing it.
The right thumb has a little rubber ridge on it...at first I thought it was a reinforced thumb to protect snowboarders, but since it's not on the left, maybe it's the nose-wipe? I did find myself falling a little bit more than usual with my thumbs out when i was wearing these mittens, maybe because of the posture that they have your hand in, so I had to consciously think to use my palm a little bit more.
The color was a great softer color (light gray) to match the current trends in girl's winter coats. A lot of mittens/gloves out there are still in the tough dark colors, and I'm a fiend for matching gear, so these fit right in. I just have a Columbia parka, so nothing that fancy, but I was happy I could actually get a performance mitten in a matching color (and not white because I actually used my hands on things like tow ropes) and not have to opt for black.
