I bought this stove to travel when I was overseas. I was very disappointed. I was constantly cleaning it and fixing it. I like the capability to use any type of fuel but the headaches are not worth it.

The reason why you where cleaning it so much is maybe because you where using other fuels besides white gas in it. The Whisperlite is designed only for white gas. Any other fuel will clog it fast and require lots of maintenance! The Whisperlite International is designed for many different fuel types. It looks identical to it except for the large diameter generator tube and a little wick near the bottom-center of the stove (this is needed for use with kerosene). The Whisperlite is a great stove that will last a lifetime. However, you MUST use white gas only in it! Otherwise you will ruin the stove...
